Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman has officially announced that he had submitted a request to depart the Italian team.
In a post on his X account, Ademola says he hopes to find an amicable solution with his club, who finished third in the Serie A last season.
The Nigerian international, 27, had earlier deleted all mentions of Atalanta Bergamo on his social media, before posting his latest announcement, thanking the club and their supporters, reflecting in particular on their Europa League victory in 2024. “Celebrating this victory with my teammates and the fans that night in Dublin remains one of the most emotional moments of my career.”
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta rejected a second offer from Inter Milan of €45 million, including bonuses, after Ademola had reached an agreement with the Nerazzurri to join them this summer.
The striker laments that after “months of broken promises and unfair treatment and the rejection of an offer I consider in line with the board’s expectations, it was time for me to speak out.”
Ademola joined Gli Orobici in 2022 and has scored 52 goals so far for the team.
