FC Barcelona players Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski have been fined by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body for non-compliance with anti-doping regulations following the Champions League semi-final second leg against Inter Milan last May.
According to UEFA, both players violated two anti-doping regulations. The first was a failure to comply with anti-doping officer’s instructions, as required by Article 21.8. The second was a failure to report immediately to the control station, as required by Article 21.10 (a).
Each player will pay €5,000 as a fine, according to report.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was slapped with a heftier fine of €20,000 and suspended from the next UEFA match, for breaching general principles of good conduct, particularly his attitude towards the referee of the said game.
His assistant, Marcus, received the same sanction for similar reasons.
Barcelona were knocked out of the competition by Inter Milan (4-3 a.e.t.).
